While deer are certainly cute, they are considered a garden pest by many gardeners. If you are a lover of beautiful perennial blossoms, but the deer in your area share your enthusiasm, then Deer Resistant All Perennial Mix is for you. This mix contains 15 species of gorgeous perennial flowers that deer will see and say "thanks, but no thanks".
What to Expect: As with most perennials, the first season you plant the All Perennial Wildflower Mix you’ll see a handful of blooms, not all the blooms. This is normal! Perennial varieties usually show limited germination in their first season after planting, but will bloom to their full potential in the following growing season.

We planted a small patch between our house and garage hoping for lots of native plants. Unfortunately, we ended up with more than 75% (maybe closer to 85-90%) being invasive common mugwort and low smartweed, which were not listed on the package. Some yarrow came up, and a few black eyed Susan’s, and a couple of others that I haven’t fully identified.
I pulled out most of the low smartweed, which is in the knotweed family, but was not able to remove all the roots. So it has come back with a vengeance.
We purchased and planted other perennials which have become overgrown by the invasive plants.
Our past Eden Brothers purchases have been good until this one where the seeds were not even close to what was advertised. Will have to rip everything out and start over, unfortunately. We do not recommend purchasing!

Because this is an all-perennial mix, many of the flowers establish slowly, especially when spring planted, while dormant weed seeds already present in the soil can germinate quickly and make a new planting appear weedy. This mix generally performs best when planted in the fall, allowing the seeds to experience natural winter conditions, establish strong root systems, and produce a healthier display over time. So, I had a hill I needed to be sure something was growing to hold the dirt up and against everyone’s advice I spread a ton of deer resistant seed and Michigan seed on the hill. It was sparse the first yr but I was happy to have something on the hill. Purchased a whole big bag of coneflower and the deer ate all the any shoots- but I hoping the roots became established for this yr. Last summer in August I had the most impressive display of yellow flowers and not what I expected but I guess deer don’t like yellow but love pink and blue!!
Had good results from product. I tilled soil to 6 inches. Rolled out lumps with roller. Spread seed. Scratch seed in lightly to cover. Spread chopped wheat straw on top to help germinate. This patch is about 1/8acre. Planted fall of 2023.
We have a large property that has frequent deer visitors. I have planted this in multiple areas throughout and it comes up every year, sometimes with different types of flowers but always amazing. I love that it is all seed and no filler. It took another year to get everything we have now, it started with small pastel flowers the first year. Love your products.
Planted these in March of this year (it’s now May). They took off at first sprouting like crazy but seem to have stopped there. Haven’t grown more than an inch or so. I planted some annual seeds about 2 weeks ago and they are already taller than these. Seem to be a big waste of money, time and effort.
I have purchased seeds from other places but everything had fillers. This is the first place where I’ve had beautiful flowers bloom consistently. I buy more every spring! Be sure to note some mixes are mixed percentage annual and perennial when buying.
Very disappointed. Planted in fall 2022 as directed, spring/summer 2023 only had one variety bloom (white yarrow shown in photo). Waited till second season as directed in product description for additional varieties to sprout and bloom. Spring/summer 2024 - nothing has returned, not even the white yarrow. Bought several pounds worth of seeds but was a complete waste of money.

I planted the seed late summer and had some flowers but this summer the flowers grew beyond my expectations. I did keep the soil watered as I believe this significantly helped the growth. I planted another area this spring and look forward to a slightly different blend of wildflowers.
I purchased 5lb in the Fall of 2022. I had health problems and couldn't plant at that time. I kept the seeds and hoped to use them in time. I purchased another 5lb bag of this item on Amazon. Planted 10K sq ft meadow in Fall 2023. Everything went well. Plants germinated and looks great...except I now have a 10K sq ft meadow of pure bachelor's buttons and nothing else. It's gonna look spectacular, for sure. But I really wanted variety.

Bought two 5 lb bags last fall and planted on hill. Nothing ever came up.

I was very impressed for the first year. Good germination, good variety and many blooms. The second year only yarrow because it is invasive and smothered out everything else. Do not buy any mix with yarrow seeds!

Yarrow is included in this mix because of its excellent drought tolerance, deer resistance, and long-lasting blooms. It is also native in much of North America and is not generally considered an invasive species. It can be a vigorous grower and may become more dominant than other wildflowers in certain conditions, particularly if the planting is not periodically thinned or managed. Dividing or selectively reducing yarrow can often help maintain greater diversity within an established perennial wildflower planting. We have a lot of elk, deer, and javelina in our area. We were so excited to try these deer resistant wildflowers. We planted them early spring, watered them diligently, and were excited to see them start to come up! That’s as far as it went. We never saw one bloom! They were a feast for the wildlife. So disappointing.

It’s normal not to see blooms in the first year, as these plants are establishing themselves to return stronger in future seasons. In high-wildlife areas, extra protection such as fencing, netting, or repellents is often needed to help the flowers establish and reach their full display. I am getting a large amount of the scarlet aka tropical sage but was disappointed to learn it is not a perennial in my zone 6. The description states "suitable for all zones"

One coneflower and a nice clump of blackeyed susans popped up, otherwise kind of disappointed so far. I planted quite a bit and got not much. BUT the deer have left these alone. Trade off I guess, will try again.

As soon as they started to come up, the deer ate them!! Wasted money!

I was surprised at how quickly they seemed to germinate. They grew to between 2-5 inches tall. And they're they've stayed...not growing any taller. A few have little white blooms on them. No others are blooming yet. We are on week 9. I'm wondering if this is normal?

I have mostly black-eyed Susans growing, a few poppies, and some yarrow. Not worth the money I payed since I have plenty of black-eye Susan already in my yard.

The wildflowers are beautiful and have added color to a full strip of lawn. So far, the deer have let them grow while eating other plants (🥲).

I never would believe how well these seeds would germinate!
Having taken great care in seedbed preparation and sowing and seed depth, I am a little disappointed in the lower rate of germination (about 60%), especially in sandier soil. I do not entirely fault the seed as we had a drought about the time of sowing and that undoubtedly impacted the germination, but I still think the seed was not exactly up to snuff.

I planted this mix in two beds that get full sun. Only four types of flowers grew. Not what I was expecting from a mix that claims to have 16 varieties.

I've bought several pounds of this all perennial mix as I'm replacing my entire lawn with pollinator-friendly plants. These have established themselves beautifully and are so thick you can't even see any weeds. Deer don't seem to bother them either. I'll be buying more.
