Seeds germinated indoors earlier this year under LED shop lights. I put all the seedlings in one patio container and they grew well. I actually forgot about the container as other plants towered over the pot. Justbtwo days ago I discovered the pot and there were little flowers!! I neglected that container so it didn't grow tonics full potential and that was totally my fault. I'm excited to get these vines started in 2024. Thanks Eden Brothers!!
I ordered these seeds thinking direct sowing would be an option. It tools almost three weeks for the seeds to be delivered and when I read the instructions on the package it turns out I was about 8 weeks behind. You should put the sowing instructions online with the items. I decided to try to direct sow. When I opened the package there were 4 seeds about the size of a grain of salt. I’ve ordered many items through Eden Brothers and been happy. This product is a waste of money.

Purple Bell Vine is a variety that typically performs best when started indoors about 6–8 weeks before the last frost in Zone 6, as it can take time to establish and germinate in cooler spring conditions. The seeds themselves are naturally very small, but there absolutely should have been approximately 20 seeds in the packet, so we sincerely apologize for that issue and have addressed it internally. We also appreciate your suggestion regarding sowing instructions online and will be passing that feedback along to our website team for consideration. Regarding the shipping concern, we do see that the order was placed on 4/27 and delivered on 5/4, which is within our normal spring shipping timeframe during our busiest season. However, we certainly never want any customer to feel rushed on planting timing or unsupported once their order arrives. We had previously reached out with growing tips and offered a resolution, but we have not yet heard back from you. 0% germination rate. I should have read reviews on this since it seems others have had this same issue.
Store owner replied: Hello Katie. Thank you again for your review. Purple Bell Vine can be one of the more challenging varieties to start, particularly in Zone 8 with a March planting. This variety generally performs best when started indoors earlier in the season with warm temperatures around 70–75°F, consistent moisture, and plenty of light, as the seeds can be slow and somewhat uneven to germinate. Direct sowing or later starts outdoors can sometimes lead to lower success rates, especially if temperatures fluctuate. What else is there to say? Spent thirteen dollars for an empty seed packet.

I was so excited to receive this packet of purple bell vine after see a friend growing it on a trellis because it is beautiful! But I only got three seeds to come up and as of now they are still only about 1 inch tall in the potting soil I planted them in! Now the weather is changing here in Ohio and I have no clue what to do with these little seedlings (if they make it!) throughout the winter here??? Question can I bring them indoors to try to save them or plant them now in my garden? I’m terrified I will loose them after waiting soooo long to germinate!!! Help please

We understand how disappointing it can feel after waiting so long for your Purple Bell Vine seeds to sprout, and you’re right to be cautious with the seedlings in Ohio’s changing weather. This vine is a tender perennial and won’t survive winter outdoors in your zone. Since the seedlings are still so small, the best approach is to keep them indoors in a warm, sunny spot or under grow lights through the winter. Water just enough to keep the soil slightly moist, and then move them outside after the danger of frost has passed in spring. This way, you’ll give them the best chance to grow into the beautiful vines you’re hoping for next season!
It took 3 weeks to germinate and is slow to grow. This may be due to the soil I used. Give them a try and be patient with germination.

We are looking more into this. It is normal for Purple Bell Vine seeds to take 2–4 weeks to germinate and grow slowly at first. They need warm temperatures (around 70–75°F) and consistent moisture to get started. Early growth is often slow as the plant develops its root system. Using well-draining soil and being patient usually leads to healthy, vigorous vines later in the season. After speaking with our Customer Service Team, it seems we were able to assist you with this. 2 out of 20 seeds germinated, sprouted and are growing beautifully. This vine is so stunning in late summer she’s worth the headache

Out of hundreds of seeds that I planted in my greenhouse, these were the t only variety that had no germination. I heard they were challenging so tried half the seeds. When they appeared to have failed I started the rest. They too have not germinated.

Surface sown on soil blocks with 73 degree heat mat, kept moist and used plastic wrap to keep humidity along with a very light sprinkle of vermiculite. Planted all 17 seeds, gave them three weeks, only one germinated. I was expecting about 30% germination as it’s a tricky one to get going but at 4% this has been a huge disappointment.

I’m early still, but I started these in January in my zone 5b basement Erin at The Inpatient Gardener (YouTube) gave some great pointers. I put my tiny seedlings back on the heat map and it’s made all the difference along with the grow lights.
Zero germination
Very sad. I wanted this plant very much and I can't find it anywhere already grown.

I have tried germinating these seeds twice. Germination is very poor and seedling do not thrive. If anyone has a solution, let me know and I will try a third time.
