Collection: Medicinal Herbs

There’s never been a better time to take back your health. Why spend money at the pharmacy when you could be growing your own healing herbs at home? Lavender, chamomile, sage, and lemon balm—each herb has its own medicinal properties, and since it’s hard to predict what future ailments you might have we recommend planting one of each! Incorporate nutritious herbs like Gogi seeds and chia seeds into your daily smoothie, or dry aromatic herbs like spearmint for a soothing cup of tea.

The best healing herbs for your home garden

While we don’t pretend to be doctors, we do believe that these herbs have a place in soothing and healing our anxious minds and tired bodies. We insist that you talk to your healthcare provider before incorporating any new herbal medicines into your diet or routine, but we recommend these medicinal plants for holistic healing.

From headaches to stomachaches to menstrual cramps, we’ve got the only medicine cabinet you’ll ever need. Expect to see classic medicinal herbs like lavender and chamomile, but we also carry a few rare and unique healing herbs, including mugwort and St. John’s wort.

Did you know that Milk Thistle is prized as an herbal medicine for its brain-boosting and bone-strengthening properties? The next time you see this common “weed” popping up in your garden, you might see the plant a little differently.

Native medicinal herbs are easy to grow

Nature is full of herbs that heal, and many of these plants are native to North America, including hyssop and valerian. Many medicinal herbs are native to woodland areas, and very tolerant of shade and filtered sunlight—so even gardeners without a lot of direct sunlight can still cultivate these medicinal plants.

Most healing herbs are low-maintenace perennials, but there are a few self-seeding annuals in the mix, like borage and lemon mint. Whether or not these herbs will overwinter, they are all prolific plants that will propagate themselves in one way or another.

Many healing herbs thrive in container gardens, so even if you don’t have abundant outdoor space you can still grow most of these plant medicines in pots! Use a well-draining potting soil mix and large enough containers to accommodate mature root growth. You might consider growing like herbs together in pots to save even more space. Learn how to plant and care for your medicinal herbs in our Herb Seeds Planting Guide.

Medicinal herbs are always non-GMO and filler-free

Many of your favorite medical herbs are now available as organic-certified seed, so you can take additional steps to protect yourself and the environment by purchasing seeds that were never treated with synthetic chemicals. We’re always looking to add more herb seeds to our organic collections, so if your favorite medicinal herbs aren’t certified organic yet, keep checking back, because they might become available soon!

This is your year to delve into herbal medicines and holistic medicines. Keep these healing herbs close at hand, because you never know when you’ll need easy access to plant medicine. Order your medicinal herb seeds today, and feel good about helping to protect yourself and your family!
