How to Plant Heavenly Blue Morning Glory

When to Plant Morning Glory Seeds

Seeds can be directly sown once soil temperatures are 65 degrees or above, or started indoors 4-6 weeks before the final frost date for your area.

Where to Plant Morning Glory Seeds

Morning Glory plants prefer full sun so be sure to pick an area that has direct sunlight for 6-8 hours.

How to Plant Morning Glory Seeds

Seeds may be scarified, but not a requirement. To scarify, you may nick the seeds with a knife, or rub the seeds with sandpaper or a file. Then soak the seeds overnight. Plant seeds 1/2 inch deep and provide 8-12" spacing between plants.

Once vines reach 6 inches, provide trellis support unless planted in hanging planter in which case you can leave it to spill over.

How to Care for Morning Glory

Water weekly at first or when the soil looks dry. Once established, only water as needed. Remove any spent blooms as they appear and at the first sign of killing frost, cut back dead vines.

  1. Gorgeous

These are the MOST beautiful color and LARGE size. I love them. Everyone who has visited my garden this year fell in love.

  2. They bloomed

    They came up!

  3. Viable 3+ Years Later!

I bought a one pound bag of these seeds in 08 I believe, it's been too long to remember... but it's been at least three years. I just assumed these seeds would be done for as they've been sitting in awful dry heat conditions in what is basically an attic for so long. However, I thought I might as well try to use them just to get rid of them. I soaked a huge handful of seeds overnight and then sowed them in loosely tilled soil. Within 2 days, purple sprouts are showing up! I'm really impressed at the indestructibility of these little guys. It makes buying in bulk seem like a good option, knowing they'll be good year after year. Truly surprised me.

  4. Amazing service!

Super quick shipping! I ordered a pound of seeds and actually ended up with a little more than that. Product just as described. Can't wait to plant some of these buggers.

  5. If you love blue...

The name says it all...Absolutely stunning blue color. Great color and easy to grow. Wow!
