Carrots are a traditional garden staple, associated mainly with Spring dining. Sweet and delicate, home-grown carrots that cannot be found in supermarkets are among a home gardener's greatest culinary rewards.

Since much of the aesthetic quality of this vegetable is based on the shape of the root, make sure you have well-draining, loose soil to make it easier to grow your carrots long and straight. Slender varieties such as Scarlet Nantes and Imperator 58 benefit from deep, loose soil. We do carry blocky shapes that can handle heavy or shallow soil, such as Danvers 126 and Chantenay Red Cored.
