The best wildflower seed blends for blooms all season

At Eden Brothers, we think regular lawns are boring. Why not spruce up your backyard with either the Endless Summer Annual Succession or Perennial Succession Mix? Do the environment (and your neighborhood) a service by planting a wildflower meadow, bringing native pollinators to your garden and smiles to the faces of folks passing by.

We’ve saved you the trouble of picking the perfect varieties by assembling our favorite flowers into two collections to suit your gardening needs. The varied species in each mix flower at different times, ensuring consistent blooms from late spring until late summer.

Wildflower seeds are easy to grow

Planting these mixes is easy—simply scatter the wildflower seeds over your planting area in either spring or fall, depending on your growing zone and personal preference. In either scenario you’ll want to wait until after frost, to protect against seeds sprouting too early.

When choosing a planting site, look for a location that gets at least six hours of sunlight for best flowering. Aim for a site with fertile soil that drains well, although most wildflowers are vigorous growers that can tolerate poor soils. These wildflower mixes are the perfect choice for ground cover—once established, these hardy plants are relatively drought-tolerant and very low maintenance. Weed and water young seedlings, but once wildflowers have matured they can fend for themselves!

If you’re stumped on exactly how many seeds to buy, use the coverage tab at the bottom of the page to determine how much seed will adequately fill a space.

Choose between annual and perennial flower varieties

The Endless Summer—Annual Succession Mix contains a blend of the dainty Baby’s Breath for early spring blooms that fade into the bold and beautiful Red Corn Poppy and Blue Cornflower. Next, your meadow will transition to the sunny Coreopsis for midseason color, followed by the colorful Cosmos Sensation to round out summer’s end.

If perennials are more to your liking, the Endless Summer—Perennial Succession Mix contains four dependable perennial wildflowers for balanced and beautiful blooms all season long. The fragrant Sweet William comes on first, quickly followed by the colorful Black-Eyed Susan. These early-season blooms transition to the midseason Wild Perennial Lupine and Purple Coneflower that pollinators adore.

Warm colors to cool hues, cool-season perennials to warm-season annuals—these curated collections take all the guesswork out of succession planting. We’ve done the difficult work for you, and all that remains is for you to decide how much of your lawn you can reasonably turn over to a wildflower meadow!

You might purchase these wildflower mixes under the premise of “saving the bees,” but we know that this wildflower meadow is truly for you. What better way to spend a sunny summer’s day than in a lawn chair, watching the bees and the butterflies going to town in your flower patch?
