Although this variety is an annual and can be sown in spring, timing and conditions can make a difference, particularly in warmer climates where temperatures may rise quickly later in spring. Mountain Phlox performs best with shallow sowing, good seed-to-soil contact, and consistent moisture during germination, as allowing the surface to dry, heavy rainfall, or burying the small seeds too deeply can reduce emergence. Because it is an annual, it should germinate, grow, and flower within the same growing season rather than needing another year to mature.
