I purchased these seeds and planned to direct sow as the packet suggests. However, checking other resources and the Eden Brothers website, I now know it's advisable to start indoors 10 weeks before last frost. I should have started the lobelia seeds indoors in early January. It's now late February. This isn't the only packet with information that differs from the seed starting instructions on the Eden Brothers website.

I sowed it thickly - one packet in a 12x24. then took chunks of the whole plant and starting soil and stuck it on top of my garden beds. Worked great!

I planted it and while it was growing I trained it to the front and now I have a gorgeous drape of flowers down my garden wall. Hardy and beautiful. Everyone who sees it says how pretty it looks.

I started my seeds inside 2 1/2 months ago and they are coming in great.

We planted Lobiela seeds outdoors about a month ago. The seeds should grow up to 6 inches, ours look like weeds and are up to 1 1/2 feet now. We also planted 30+ Russel Lupine seeds, only 3 seeds grew and are about 1 inch now. We also planted Peonie bulbs which appear to be growing fine. We are not happy overall.

Planted as instructed, absolute disappointment. For the price after adding shipping and handling -- what a waste.

Store owner replied: Hello Gary D. Thank you for your review of Eden Brothers! We greatly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. It's so important to have feedback like this so we can continually improve our products and planting instructions. Lobelia, especially varieties like Blue Carpet, prefers cooler growing conditions and can struggle when planted in later in the season. They also have fine, delicate roots that are sensitive to fluctuations in water and heat, so late planting during warm weather often leads to short-lived growth and limited blooms. For best results in warmer areas, it’s ideal to start lobelia in early spring or grow it in a cooler, partially shaded spot for summer. After speaking with our Customer Service Team, it seems we were able to assist you with this. Thanks for your time in sharing your experience with us!

I planted only 1/2 my seeds the first time and didn’t get any plants. The second time I planted the rest, I got a few plants, but as carefully as I tended them, they all died.

I love how these came out! I started the seeds inside. I had a makeshift grow shelf. The seeds started sprouting within a week. After another two weeks I transplanted them outside. It’s recommended to harden them off…. I didn’t… bust they spread and grew so quickly! Within a month I had my first blooms and they have just gotten more and more prolific! Highly recommended!

There were no viable seeds in the packet. Looked like a few pieces of dirt- tried it anyway- nothing happened. Very disappointed

Germinated quickly, pretty green growth so far. Purchased again for more!

I bought three small packets and got a tiny amount of dust particles. Impossible to plant these without a magnifying glass. My hand planter even with the smallest hole taped to a tiny pin hole couldn't release these evenly.

Zone 5b (IA). I started these from seed a little too early indoors but they are doing amazing! They’ve gotten massive and the tiny blue flowers are beautiful and prolific. Will absolutely be planting way more next year!

I planted in April. Maybe too late for 9b. Sad germination but the few that did are not thriving very well
