This flower is a classic. It's fragrant beautiful and tough. I remember seeing it scattered about in the woods in Pennsylvania when I was a child over half a century ago. But dar is correct; it is not a native plant. It was introduced here in North America by the British very early in the 1600s so it has only been here four hundred years. If you're worried about it being invasive, simply cut the flowers off after it has bloomed and do not let it go to seed.

PLEASE DO NOT PLANT THESE SEEDS. They are beautiful, but are considered invasive in Pennsylvania. They replace native plants and spring seeds. Consider planting native plants and seeds, such a phlox, which is native to Americas.
