Customer photo review of Columbine Seeds - McKana Giant Mix

I prepped these seeds and threw them in my fridge for 60 days (as indicated on the package) to stratify them. Then I sowed them outside and took care of them, happy to see them germinate and begin to grow. Imagine my surprise when purslane grew instead of columbine. What a WASTE. I am immensely disappointed. Do NOT trust seeds from Eden Brothers. I’ve only had failures from them.

Store owner replied: Hello liz13. Thank you for your review of Eden Brothers! We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, as feedback like this helps us continue to improve our products and planting guides. Purslane is a very common warm-season annual weed that sprouts quickly once soils warm in spring, often out-competing slower-germinating perennials like columbine. Even though you cold-stratified the columbine seeds, they can take several weeks to sprout, which gives opportunistic purslane time to take over the bed. Careful weeding and continued patience with the columbine seedlings is usually needed, as true columbine seedlings have very delicate leaves and may just be slower to appear. From our follow-up with Customer Service, it looks like we were able to assist you, and we’re glad we could help. We value your input and thank you again for letting us know about this!

I hade kept seeds in fridge for I did not sow directly in garden, but in decomposable pots. None of the seed germinated.

I found Eden Brothers a few years ago when I was putting in my wildflower seeds -- now I order from them every year. The selection is great and the flowers are beautiful!!
