THE MANY BENEFITS OF GROWING ORGANIC ZINNIA SEEDS
Bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects love organic zinnia seeds. The brightly colored, nectar-rich flowers are very attractive to pollinators and provide both insects and birds with a food source and safe habitat.
Organic zinnias are drought and heat-tolerant, surviving the driest, hottest summers with grace. Though not perennial plants, organic zinnias readily self-seed so you’re sure to see colorful blooms return season after season.
Organic zinnias are also naturally deer resistant, so you don’t have to worry about four-legged pests snacking on your flower patch.
ORGANIC ZINNIA SEEDS ARE EASY TO GROW AND MAINTAIN
Organic zinnia seeds are heat-loving annuals that are quick to grow and flower. Pinching young organic zinnia seedlings may delay flowering by a few weeks, but will train the plants to grow with a branching habit–ultimately resulting in more blooms over a longer period of time.
Organic zinnias begin flowering in early summer but will continue to bloom until the first frost. Deadhead spent flowers and trim discolored foliage to prolong blooming and keep the plants healthy until temperatures cool.
Wait until all danger of frost has passed to plant zinnias in the ground. Direct sow the seeds about ¼ inch deep, six inches apart. Organic zinnia seeds can be sown in multiple successions three weeks apart to ensure fresh blooms towards the end of the season.
Organic zinnias prefer well-draining, average soils that receive at least six hours of direct sunlight per day. You can fertilize zinnias regularly for more robust blooms, but regular feeding is not required.
ORGANIC ZINNIA SEEDS FOR CUT FLOWERS AND CONTAINER GARDENS
Choose between two of your favorite zinnia seeds, or pair the two varieties for a well-rounded floral display. Tumbellina, an All-America Selections winner, is an excellent choice for containers and raised beds due to its compact size.
California Giants easily grow up to four feet tall and are an ideal variety for field plantings. Their colorful blooms reach about five inches across, making this prolific and stunning variety a go-to for cut flower production.
NO GARDEN IS COMPLETE WITHOUT ORGANIC ZINNIA SEEDS
Whether you’re new to gardening or a seasoned professional, you need to add these new varieties to your garden this season. Organic zinnia seeds have everything you love about your favorite zinnia varieties, but you can rest easy knowing that you made a conscious choice for the health of the planet.
