How to Plant Wild Sensation Mix Cosmos Seeds
About Cosmos
This Mexico native is one of the simplest flowers to grow, and they are suitable for all zones. Since they reseed themselves easily, they make perfect additions to wildflower meadows or naturalized areas. Children will love planting their cosmos seeds and watching them grow taller than they are!
When to Plant Cosmos Seeds
Plant Cosmos in the Spring when the soil can be worked.
Where to Plant Cosmos Seeds
Sow your Cosmos seeds in the full sun to partial shade. As cosmos flowers are very adaptable, they can thrive in average to poor soil quality, and they are tolerant to dry conditions.
How to Plant Cosmos Seeds
Scatter cosmos seeds outdoors after there is no longer a danger for frost. Seeds can be covered ¼ inch since they do not need light to germinate. Germination will usually occur in just 3 to 5 days, but it can take up to 2 weeks.
How to Care for Cosmos
Once started, cosmoses require virtually no attention. You can add a general purpose fertilizer once or twice a season. If a plant grows very tall and is not planted in a wind protected area, it may require staking. If you want blooms all summer long, dead head the old blooms.

Extremely tall
I planted these in an area that ended up shading my other flowers. They were all 7ft tall reaching the eaves of my house. Beautiful color mix and soft, green fuzzy stems. They did very well on my western exposure garden in NE Florida.

Fun and easy annual
Easy to grow annual . Seedlings started outside and are developing into nice bushy, healthy plants. Easy to grow. No cons.

Cosmos
Cosmos are great for any planting, high germination rate, good colors and fairly drought tolerant. More susceptible to damage from insects and drought damage than the bright lights variety.

A Flower for Every Seed
When I ordered a pound of Wild Cosmos Seeds (Sensation Mix), I didn't think many would come up here on top of a divide in the dessert of Colorado. But, when it came time for them to bloom, they were breathtaking. I think every flower was absolutely beautiful perched on top of their 2'+ stems. I especially enjoyed when a gentle breeze would move over them and the bees and butterflies would flutter just above waiting for the flowers to be still so they could take more of the nectar. Overall, I think the 1-pound bag of Cosmos that I bought was the best flower investment I ever made.
