Ordered 200 of these. One of the bags of 100 looked substantially worse than the other, the bulbs barely came up and never flowered. I suspect this batch was infected with Tulip fire. I'll have to get my soil tested now before I can buy any more tulips which is beyond upsetting, and if they did have Tulip Fire I won't be able to grow tulips for years which would be even more upsetting.
The other bag, planted in a different spot, came up and were beautiful, except the stems were not strong enough to support the flowers and most of them flopped over.
Absolutely beautiful blooms! Less color variety than I was hoping for in my order. Had I placed an order for a larger quantity maybe I would've gotten more. Either way the purple tulips that did grow are beautiful. I did have some significant issues with bulb mold. I lost about half of the bulbs I planted. But that was more so due to my own error and not the bulb itself pre-plant.
Ordered two sets of 100. One set came up, they were beautiful but the stems were so weak they flopped over. The other came up twisted and nver got taller than 1-2 inches, I suspect Tulip Fire.
Store owner replied:
Hello Julie. Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that your tulips did not perform as expected. We understand how disappointing it is when some stems are too weak to support the blooms and others emerge stunted or distorted. While symptoms like twisted growth can sometimes resemble Tulip Fire, this fungal disease can develop from several sources and is not necessarily introduced by newly planted bulbs. The fungus may already be present in garden soil or plant debris from previous tulip plantings, or it can spread by wind, rain splash, or contaminated garden tools, making it difficult to determine the exact cause without further evaluation. We'd still appreciate the opportunity to help. Please reply to our previous email with photos of the affected plants so we can take a closer look and work toward a resolution. At Eden Brothers, we stand behind our products and are committed to helping our gardeners succeed!
All of our bulbs bloomed in a gorgeous mix with the dark tulips opening first. We are thrilled with choosing Eden Brothers tulips for our bulbs this season!
These bulbs are not a ho-hum mixture. We had strangers stopping us in the drive to compliment the tulips. The day we planted was a bitter, windy and cold day. The planting became a bit haphazard so we could quickly finish. I was certain that it would become apparent this spring but the bulbs bloomed beautifully and it appears that all did manage to survive. The blooms were long lasting and the balance of color was perfect. It was a terrific reminder of our trip to the Netherlands.
We have had a late start to Spring in NE Ohio, but these tulips, that I planted in the Fall, have emerged and are gorgeous. I would order again without hesitation.
