This variety of Poppy somniferum giganteum seeds, known as The Giant is the variety of poppy most often cultivated for culinary use and baking. The somniferum poppy is prized for the amount of seed produced by individual pods, suitable for baking and making oils. However, this Poppy's culinary uses are overshadowed by the spectacular blooms it produces! The somniferum variety of Poppy Seeds dazzles in your garden with a large, double petaled head, often referred to as a "peony flowered" poppy because of the fullness of the bloom.

What did I get? I mean it’s hard to be disappointed with a giant poppy! But it’s definitely not what’s pictured. Can someone tell me what I got instead?

Zone 4a grew in a container garden. Was presently surprised with how many blooms I got as I did not do a cold stratification. I started them inside in February & moved them outside in mid April. Was transplanted twice and handled it well both times. This was my first time growing a poppy flower and was a little nervous with how it would go, I had no reason to worry. These flowers got to be 3 feet tall and the seed pods look massive so far. The blooms only lasted about 24 hours but definitely attracted tons of pollinators. The purple wasnt as vibrant as I expected but the petals were still pretty.

More the 30-40 seeds are smashed inside of the pack….. wasted. So there is that. And it took way longer than told to get here. 3 weeks… almost 4. Idk if I’ll order again. We will see how the seed that did make it do. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED...

Very impressed with the germination rate! My wife uses poppy seeds for everything. We have alot now. Dropped a few seeds in the gravel on the way to the planter, and they even grew. I couldn't be happier!

Not just the poppy seeds; over the last couple of years I have spent over $400 on mostly seeds from this company, along with a few roots and bulbs. After doing a thorough analysis I have to conclude that nearly all of it has ended in total failure. I live in southwest Tennessee. One would not think it would be hard to get seeds to grow, but such has not been the case for me.

I struggled with germination, I must’ve seeded five times and I only got two massive puppies, but they’re quite amazing to look at. They ll try throwing them down in the middle of winter this year and see what I get.

    Poppy Seeds - The Giant

99% germination. Very delicate while sprouting, but hardy, and healthy with little care. Provides excellent abundant seed for my bagels and bread TRUST THIS CO. THEY ARE VERY CUSTOMER FRIENDLY

    Poppy Seeds - The Giant

Excellent germination rate. Looking forward to seeing them in bloom.

    Poppy Seeds - The Giant

The secret to planting in Zone 9 is to germinate the seeds in a refrigerator for 2-3 weeks, in damp (not soggy) sand or perlite, in a plastic bag or suitable container. With Eden Bros. seeds I had, what I can only imagine must have been a near 99% germination rate. I was thinning these guys out for 3 months! Careful! This is GREAT seed, very virulent, and it will pop up anywhere you throw it down. Once blooming, I was greeted with a beautiful off-white and pink bloom. The plant on whole was between 3.5 and 4 feet tall. Truly a giant.

Tthe seed you provide are wonderful they are exactly what they say they are. my wife said she's never seen a 3-foot poppy, she has now and the flowers are spectacular with a seed pod to match there are other species of flowers that are very hard to find .with your supply .I have a chance to grow some in my own garden.

    Poppy Seeds - The Giant

I planted these flowers by taking a pinch and spreading it out over small areas at a time. It would appear that all have sprouted, as I do not have any gaps in the area I planted them. I'm hoping they are not too close, as I'd hate to have to thin them. So far, they've survived 4 below 32 degree frosts, with a few more predicted to come. Very happy with the germination rate of the seeds.

    Poppy Seeds - The Giant

I am preparing my seed stock for next year and for a sampling I took a small corner of the garden and spread a small amount of seeds. They seem to have all come up and are growing with great speed. I am confident that next spring will show a grand germination and spectacular beauty later in summer. I will stay with Eden Brothers for all my needs for seeds!
