This is the same Sarah Bernhardt Peony that is beloved by all for its soft pink shade and sweet fragrance, now in a jumbo-sized root. Our Jumbo Sarah Bernhardt Roots typically have five to eight eyes, while our regular size has two to four. This size difference translates into a much larger plant the first year and will bloom within the first or second year of growth. Mid-spring soft, pink double blooms are long lasting and iconic. With foliage that is attractive the entire growing season, this jumbo-sized root will provide a nice, large, verdant bush.

Since you followed the planting directions, we would encourage you to continue caring for it and look forward to another opportunity for blooms next spring. While our Jumbo Peony Roots are more mature roots, we can't guarantee first-year flowering, as the planting date, growing zone, and time available for the root to establish can all affect when it blooms. With a mid-May planting in Zone 7, the normal spring peony bloom period was already approaching its end, so the plant may have focused its energy on establishing roots and foliage instead. We were happy to provide a courtesy resolution, and we hope your established peony rewards your patience with beautiful blooms in the coming seasons!
