Planted them on 10/1. Notice flower buds on 10/20, and harvested today (10/21)! About 80% of the corms have sprouted. I am happy with the purchase.

We planted them beginning of this month. Around the first week of October. Today is October 23rd and we were surprised to blooms.

I planted the corms on 10/1. Yesterday (10/20) I found that there were leaves and buds, and today a few of the buds opened. About 75% of the corms have sprouted. I am sure more will followed. I hope it will survive the winter. I am happy about the purchase.

Got nothing last year when planted. I’m in 6b so they should be hardy. Got shoots this spring. Hoping for a harvest in the fall and looking to companion plant this summer to not waste the space.

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

Store owner replied: Hello Deb Elle. Thank you for your review of this item. We are glad to hear you're seeing growth from your bulbs this spring. While they are generally hardy in Zone 6b, it's not uncommon for newly planted bulbs to focus on establishing roots during their first season, particularly if planting occurred later than ideal or if weather conditions were less favorable. In some cases, flowering and saffron production can be lighter during the first year and improve as the bulbs become established. For gardeners looking to make use of the space during summer, shallow-rooted annuals or low-growing companion plants can be a good option, as saffron crocus remains dormant through much of the warmer season before resuming growth in fall. We are also glad we were able to connect with you directly and provide a resolution that you were satisfied with. Thank you for your patience and for giving the bulbs time to establish. We hope you're rewarded with a beautiful bloom and saffron harvest this coming fall!

Planted when arrive for early blooms in November and they did not disappoint! Pretty purple flowers that are fragile and the bees are absolutely loving them! Can’t wait to try and harvest the saffron in the spring!

I bought these bulbs a month ago. Did not wanted to plant them outdoor, so started them indoor and all of them sprouted. To my surprise I already have two flowers. Want wait to harvest more

This is a very beginner friendly plant to grow. All the corms I’ve received (20) were healthy and are beginning to bloom! I am growing them in a raised garden bed with well draining potting soil (I just used bagged soil from my local hardware store). I followed the instructions that came with the corms and so far, so good!

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

Planted in pots Fall of 25. They bloomed almost immediately, pretly petals and a little saffron. However they seemed to have petered out. I left the bulbs and removed the dead leaves. Hope they pop up again this Fall/ 26.

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

They said you learn from your misstakes , well I planted them late and indoors in garden towers , so they bloomed late and only a little at a time . This year I don't think that all of them will blossom , but they have leaves and are most likely producing nib that can be grown out next from what I have read , growing something new and a little different is always fun

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

I was so excited to try these and finally I have 9 out of 20 sprouted. For the price I wish they all had but it was a interesting experiment. Waiting impatiently for them to bloom.

Store owner replied: Hello Crystal G. Thank you for your review of Eden Brothers! We greatly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. It's so important to have feedback like this so we can continually improve our products. Many times they will not bloom the first season, but we would expect them to sprout for you. Blooming depends on corm size, planting time, and environment. Some may focus on establishing roots the first season and bloom the following fall. After speaking with our Customer Service Team, it seems we were able to find a resolution for you. Thanks for your time in sharing your experience with us!

I was worried because I forgot to plant them right away and I also do not have a green thumb at all, but they have grown so fast and are already flowering after less than a month of putting in soil! Just harvested my first saffron threads today

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

Super easy to grow! Planted the last week of September and have had 18/20 sprout! Can’t wait for the flowers to bloom

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

These arrived seeming reasonable, but unfortunately they didn't show any advancement or growth despite my efforts. I wish you better success.

7 of the 8 bulbs I planted came up 2 weeks after planting. One of them didn't emerge so I dug it up and it looked like it had rotted, but for the most part they came up fine and strong.

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

did half in a pot and half in the ground I got one Bloom. This is the second or third year… I probably would not buy again.

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

Bulbs grew just after planting in fall, died off in winter, never came up again.

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

Store owner replied: Hello Jacque Behler. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with Eden Brothers! We truly value your feedback, as it helps us continue to improve our planting instructions and expectations. Your first harvest of saffron may not occur until one year after planting. Grassy-like leaves will appear and will eventually die back as winter weather approaches. In Zone 7, Saffron Crocus typically re-emerge and bloom in the fall, usually between late September and mid-October, depending on the weather. We're happy to hear our Customer Service Team was able to assist you and explaining this. Please feel free to reach back out if you do not see those beautiful flowers and delicious saffron stamens this fall. We expect you will., but are here to help if needed. Wishing you a successful and enjoyable growing season ahead!

I planted my bulbs in those protective baskets to hopefully prevent them from being g a tasty rodent treat. Alas, neither basket ever had any sign of life.

I ordered 40 saffron crocus bulbs in 2022. A lot of them did not sprout, and the ones that did don't ever produce flowers. We have some early spring crocuses pop up (non-saffron producing) which makes me wonder if I was even ever sent the right type of flower. I have been patiently waiting but have not had any luck. We grow a couple dozen other types of bulb/corms that all do well, and our soil where they were planted is well draining with no clay, so it isn't the conditions. Definitely disappointed!

I planted 20 this fall. Just as that lovely bloom and pretty crimson begin to pop, the deer feast. I think the bulbs are good but fear that I will never see results!

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

I planted my Saffron Crocus bulbs in September, and are growing quickly! I have to say that they are only deer resistant, and our deer did not resist. They nipped the tops off of all save one! The blossoms are still there, and beginning to open up, with no leaves. Hubby and I just rigged cages to protect from further invasion! Lol!

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

This is the 3rd season in which my crocus have sprouted out leafs without any blooms. I'm not sure if it is something I've done wrong or not. 3 stars because they've come up.

These crocuses grew despite my ignorance of planting and harvesting them. I waited a while to plant them after they arrived because we still had warm temperatures. They were planted in early October and bloomed before Thanksgiving. We have already dried and made a meal with Saffron. Great corms, I would buy them again!

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

This is my first attempt to grow saffron, and 18 out of 20 sprouted within 4 weeks of planting in a large outdoor half wine barrel with organic potting soil. 4 have flowers starting to show, 5 have two separate bunches of leaves, so I'm hoping for a few extra flowers to make up for the ones that didn't sprout. I made the mistake of not completely reading the included instructions and left them in the plastic bag and envelope for 1-2 weeks before planting just in time (a couple had already started to sprout). 1" Chicken wire over the top of the wine barrel has so far kept the thriving squirrel population from digging them up. Can't wait to see them bloom!

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

I am delighted all 60 of my saffron bulbs came up! My first day of harvest was yesterday and again today. All the flower seeds I have ordered over the years have been exceptional....very large blooms and wonderful colors. This is the only place I trust for high quality seeds. Thank you ....

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

I planted ten bulbs four years ago. Almost immediately they sprouted but didn't bloom. Twice since then I've harvested delicious saffron, and at last count I've got 13 flowers.

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

I received the bulbs today, they all look healthy, as all the seeds I get from Y’all. The last company I ordered from before I found y’all, sent me a package of gladiolus bulbs. They were pretty and I didn’t have that color but they never asked if I wanted a refund or wait until they had more. I paid a lot for 10 bulbs that I could have picked up at Lowe’s.

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

I order a number to grow and harvest the saffron to give as gifts at Christmas. Makes a great gift. Once you see the manual labor involved you understand why saffron is expensive to buy.

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

These saffron bulbs arrived in great condition and have already started to poke through the ground. I can't wait to use their saffron threads in rice and paella!

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

Dear Reader, (Written 05 Jan 2016) This past fall, I planted 20 Crocus Bulbs in an above ground box where I usually plant my garlic. They have come up nicely although I do not know if they were supposed to come up so soon. They look healthy and strong. The winter here on the coast has been fairly mild with temperatures in the low 40's and some 30's. Since the weather seems to agree with them, I hope to expand the number of plants in the next few years. Good luck with your own garden efforts.

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

I ordered this end of this Oct and sowed it immediately and I was in for a surprise when one flower bloomed all of a sudden. I had one more flower bloom from a another bulb after a week. I have planted them in terracotta pots but I was told they are frost tolerant by EdenBrothers staff and are safe to plant them on ground. I did not want to take chance!! Over all good healthy bulbs were shipped.

Saffron Crocus Bulbs - Crocus Sativus

All ten bulbs were planted in September and started sprouting shortly after the weather got a little chilly (late October). The first bloom started today. Each bulb has a few shoots coming up, so I expect there will be quite a few flowers. Absolutely beautiful little plants, and excited to cook with strands. These were planted in a container with a mix of sand and potting soil in sunny Southern California.
