Customer photo review of Coleus Seeds - Chocolate Mint

It is fairly easy to grow and maintain. It just looks slightly different from the pictures online. I have grown two of them and both look the same. Recently I have put them under a grow light and they were next to a western facing window before.

Customer photo review of Coleus Seeds - Chocolate Mint

I’ve never grown Coleus before so I got these seeds with no expectations or hopes in mind. Just a “oh that looks cool let’s try that but if it dies eh that’s fine too”. I received only 9 seeds in the packet, which was confusing. But every single one of them have sprouted into a big leafy beauty. And they are honestly some of my favorite plants right now. So much so that I’m sad they’re only annuals; I’ll have to get some more for next year. These pictures are from July, but honestly I procrastinated repotting them MUCH longer than I should have and I only started the seeds in April. So potentially, they should be even larger/ further along than they are here. They live on my northwest facing balcony with partial sun and I’ve been watering every day or every other day since it’s been about 92-95 degrees Fahrenheit most days. Over all, I’m very pleasantly surprised with these plants and again am very pleased with Eden brothers products. Highly recommend. 10/10

Planted as directed, nothing has germinated. Would not purchase this seed packet again

    Coleus Seeds - Chocolate Mint

Store owner replied: Hello Amy Caicos. Thank you for taking the time to write in a review for us. We are sorry to hear that your Chocolate Mint Coleus seeds did not germinate this time! Coleus seeds are very small and need light to germinate, so they should be sown on the soil surface rather than covered. They also germinate best in warm conditions with consistently moist soil. In Zone 6, cooler spring temperatures or fluctuating moisture can sometimes reduce germination success. We are glad we were able to connect with you directly and provide a resolution, and we love your idea of trying them in a hydroponic seed starter next time, as starting them in a warm, controlled environment often provides the most reliable results. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope you'll have great success if you decide to give this beautiful variety another try!

I purchased seeds this spring and the plants that came up were nothing like the picture. The leaves in the picture had a much more dramatic color pattern. Mine have a little dab of chocolate in the center of an ordinary green leaf. It a long time to get them to any size and when they did enlarge it felt like a lot of wasted time!

Store owner replied: Hello Kathy Stankevich. Thank you for your review of Eden Brothers! We greatly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. It's so important to have feedback like this so we can continually improve our products and planting expectations. After speaking with our Customer Service Team, it seems we were able to assist you with this. Something to note that might be helpful is to know that if the plants are not developing full dark coloration, they likely need more bright indirect sunlight. Thanks for your time in sharing your experience with us and please let us know if you need any more support!
