When "wild" gardeners think of California poppies, this is the flower that comes to mind. Majestic, elegant, and stunningly colorful, this wild orange poppy is year-in and year-out among our most popular species. Though California Poppy Flower Seeds can, of course, be planted in smaller plots, they tend to truly dazzle when planted in abundance. And for all you folks who actually live in the Golden State (lucky!), this happens to be the California state flower.

  • • Perennial / Annual; Bright and cheerful!
  • • Easy to grow and adaptable
  • • Poppy seeds require a cool period of 2-4 weeks to break dormancy, and some gardeners choose to cold stratify their seeds.

Customer photo review of California Poppy Seeds - Orange

The poppy seeds I planted were growing well until someone thought they were weeds and pulled most of them. I did get some blooms this first season too. The blooms are lovely with orange and yellow.

I purchased these in the pink, white, and red mix and all of my flowers ended up orange. They still turned out beautiful minus the mix up of seeds. Lasted all summer into early fall in 6B

We recently built a house and it has been challenging to get the excavated dirt plant coverage, especially on the slopes. However, The California poppies have really been beautiful in these spaces, and perennial. Love them. WNC 7b.

No poppies came from these seeds.

Store owner replied: Hello Susan J. Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry your California Poppies did not germinate. For future planting, June in Zone 9 can be quite warm for poppy germination, as poppies generally establish best during cooler weather. Their tiny seeds should be sown on or very near the soil surface with good seed-to-soil contact and consistent light moisture; excessive heat, drying, heavy watering, or burying the seeds too deeply can reduce emergence. In Zone 9, fall sowing is generally a better option, allowing the seeds to establish during the cooler season for spring flowering. We are glad we were able to provide a resolution and hope your next planting brings much better results!

I bought a pound of California poppy seeds, sowed them in the ground with a rake in the fall just prior to a rain storm and not ONE came up. I live in California and followed your instructions carefully. Very disappointing and an expensive mistake.

This was my first purchase of seeds from Eden Brothers. Based on the way my front yard looks now, I think every one of them germinated! I live in Southern California and remember as a kid seeing these happy blossoms everywhere. Now I can enjoy them in my own little corner of the world and I'm thrilled! I will shop Eden Brothers in the future.

Planted this seed with the Larkspur for spring 2016 bloom. Will keep you posted. My brother's garden blooms this combination every year and it is beautiful.

Order from The Edens shipped to Califoria, appropriately, distributed to 50 small cosmetics containers and taken to Easton Maryland to a Cousins Reunion and shared with the people I have not seen in 45 years from all over the country. What a happy group.

I love the Seed Packets; I'm putting one Packet into the DOI Veterans Theme Bag and sending a bag to US Department of Interior veterans as a way of thanking them for serving in our military services as well as working in the DOI; from east coast to HI and Alaska! Our organization is not yet a non-profit group & I thought long and hard about spending my personal funds on this but now that I have them, it has been well worth the expense and effort. Thank you!

    California Poppy Seeds - Orange

I've had problems with little seed packets from the store in the past. Often the seeds don't sprout because conditions aren't perfect. So I bought 1/4 pound, figuring I could repeat until some sprouted. The first planting came up in abundance. (Oregon)

Can not rave enough about my success with the Eden Bros CA Poppy. Blown away by the results.
