I got some of these last year (2025) and planted about 1/2 in early October and the other half early December (Zone 10 A - SF Bay Area). The corms were quite large, and grew and bloomed beautifully in different spots in my garden. The first one bloomed end of February, the last one in April. Very pleased with these.

Customer photo review of Anemone Bulbs - Bordeaux

My plants are all doing amazing, but I was definitely expecting the flowers to look more like the example pictures. They are in fact, pretty bright red. I don’t know if I need to give it different fertilizer to make them the darker burgundy petals, but nevertheless, they’re still pretty.

Store owner replied: Hello Natalie. Thank you for taking the time to write in your review. We are glad to hear that your anemones are growing so well, though we're sorry the blooms didn't develop the deep burgundy color you were expecting! Bordeaux anemones are known for their rich burgundy-red flowers, but bloom color can vary with environmental conditions. Temperature, sunlight, soil conditions, and flower maturity can all influence how dark the blooms appear. In warmer climates or during periods of intense sun, they may appear a brighter red than the deeper burgundy tones often seen in catalog photos. Fertilizer is unlikely to significantly change the flower color. We are glad we were able to connect with you and provide a resolution. Thank you for your feedback, and we're happy to hear you're still enjoying these beautiful blooms!

I was so pleased with how these anemones turned out. Not only are they giving me plenty of blooms but they are tall! If I had one thing to tell gardeners when they buy these is to do your research on your zone and how to successfully plant these gorgeous flowers

I just posted a review, but forgot to say that I am seeing the leaves start to reappear this year (fall 2026), after first planting fall 2025. Looking forward to seeing their flowers again.

These are a far from the pictured deep almost purple toned flowers. They are a clear flat red without any of the beautiful velvety lustre that our blue anemones have. All of them are the same, older blooms and newer, in more and less sun, and in more and less acidic soil.
