Waxed Amaryllis are intended to be enjoyed as single-season bulbs, but it may be possible to get them to re-bloom with diligent care. After flowering, carefully remove the wax and metal base or glue without damaging any emerging roots, then plant the bulb in well-draining potting soil with the upper half of the bulb above the soil line. Gardeners in Hardiness Zones 8 through 11 can plant their bulbs outside. Provide plenty of light and regular fertilization throughout spring and summer to help the bulb rebuild the energy it used to flower. Even with proper care, re-blooming is not guaranteed and may take more than one season.
