Tips for Growing Mint
Mint is famously easy to grow, making it perfect for both beginners and experienced gardeners. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers rich, moist, well-drained soil. Because mint spreads enthusiastically through underground runners, many gardeners choose to grow it in containers to keep it contained and manageable. If planting in the ground, consider using edging or barriers to prevent it from overtaking nearby plants. Regular harvesting encourages bushier growth and keeps plants looking tidy and productive throughout the season.
Mint Plant Care
Mint requires minimal maintenance once established. Keep soil consistently moist, especially during hot summer months, but avoid waterlogged conditions. Trim plants back regularly to promote fresh, tender growth and prevent legginess. Removing flower buds can also extend leaf production and maintain the best flavor. Mentha is a hardy perennial that returns year after year from its underground runners. In colder climates, mint will die back with frost but reliably returns in spring. A layer of mulch can help protect roots through winter and retain moisture during the growing season. In tropical, subtropical, and warm winter areas where temperatures do not dip below 55°F, mint is an evergreen. It can also stay evergreen in cooler climates if moved indoors to a warm, sunny location during winter.
Culinary and Health Powerhouse
Each variety in our Mint Collection brings something special to your kitchen and wellness routine. Classic spearmint offers a sweet, mild flavor perfect for teas, sauces, and salads. Peppermint delivers a cool, bold punch ideal for desserts and soothing herbal infusions, while delicate Corsican Mini Mint makes a charming edible groundcover with an intense fragrance. Beyond its culinary uses, mint has long been valued for its digestive and calming properties, making it as beneficial as it is flavorful. Fresh or dried, mint is a timeless herb that enhances everyday living with its invigorating aroma and refreshing taste.
