Planting Instructions
Microgreens Planting info:
If planting in your garden, loosen the soil just a couple of inches deep and smooth out. Scatter your seeds so that they are no more than 1/8 to ¼ inches apart. Remember, Microgreens are harvested so young that they do not need much room to grow. Once the seed is placed out properly, cover it with just 1/8 of an inch of soil and water gently but thoroughly.
If planting in a container, choose a shallow plastic container with drainage holes, such as a nursery flat. If you happen to have a prepackaged salad box that would work fine too, as you will simply need a container that is at least 2” deep to facilitate sprouting on as small or large a scale as you want. Fill it with good quality organic potting mix and follow the same instructions as in a garden bed. Place your container in a spot where it will get at least four hours of sunlight.
Do not let the soil dry out and be sure to remove any weeds (however unlikely) so that the tiny greens don’t compete with them for water and nutrients. Harvest when the young seedlings have developed their first set of true leaves, which is generally 10-14 days after planting. Simply snip the microgreens just above soil level. Plant your next crop after harvest right on top of your last crop – just scatter more seeds and cover with more soil. No need to remove the old roots, as they make a good source of organic matter.
