How to Plant Grenadin Double Mix Carnations
When to Plant Carnations
Carnation seeds may be started indoors in the springtime 6 weeks to 2 months before the last frost. If you chose to sow them directly outdoors, be sure that the last frost has occurred. If your winters are mild, carnations seeds may be sown outside from spring until early fall.
Carnations will grow as perennials in frost free zones and as annuals where winters are cold.
Where to Plant Carnations
Carnations do not need a lot of water- except in hot months. Soaker hoses are best. Do not over water as this can cause yellow foliage. Carnations need 4 to 5 hours of sunlight a day. They prefer fertile, well-drained, slightly alkaline (pH 6.75) soil.
How to Plant Carnations
If starting indoors seeds should be covered thinly with soil and kept moist. Plant 2 to 3 seeds per pot or cell. Germination will occur within 2 weeks if temperatures are between 65-70F. After germination, move seedlings to a sunny, cool place. They may be transplanted to your garden a week or two prior to the final frost.
How to Care for Carnations
Carnations do not need a lot of water- except in hot months. Soaker hoses are best. Do not over water as this can cause yellow foliage.

Beautiful Flowers
I did some research on growing carnations and found that these are the normal size for growing carnations in the garden, so I don`t think I should call them mini. The blooms are about 2 inches in diameter. I greatly enjoyed these blooms this summer and look forward to seeing more next year. Thank you, Eden Brothers. :)

Beautiful Flowers
I just got my first blooms from my flowers! They are a beautiful, brilliant red. Mine are a mini. The description does not state what size they are; I figured they were full size since it didn`t specify they were mini. I am by no means disappointed because I did want minis. I am very pleased with Eden Brothers products.
