Our Going Native Seed Packet Collection is full of tough species. It is suitable for zones 3-9; this wildflower mix does well in full sun to half sun/half shade. “Going Native” is not picky about soil type either! It will grow well in sandy or loamy soil of average fertility, and it tolerates drought well.
When planting wildflower seed mixes, the minimum planting rate is generally 60-70 seeds per square foot, and maximum planting rates are usually 120-140 seeds per square foot. The former amount is used on prepared soil where weeds can be controlled. The latter is preferred when soil cannot be properly prepared and weeds cannot be maintained or when maximum color is desired.
Since the Going Native Seed Packet Collection contains several varieties of annuals, the ideal time to plant the mix is in the fall, spring or early summer. This will allow maximum time to enjoy your annual species during the first year; and it will give time for some of the annuals to reseed for the next year.
Evenly distribute your Going Native Seed Packet Collection by hand or with a drop or cyclone spreader. The mix can be mixed with sand using a ratio of 1 to 2 parts sand to 1 part seed. After sowing, rake the area lightly. Cover the seeds to a maximum depth of only 2-3 times their thickness.
